Hosted by Grant Thornton Advisors LLC, we will enjoy time for networking and a discussion on the changing landscape in North Texas regarding not only the arrival of the TXSE, but also the addition of a NASDAQ regional headquarters and the NYSE Texas branch, as well as the rapid expansion of major global banks, judiciary expansion, and pending regulatory changes in Texas to meet the growing migration of companies to Texas.

Mike Rosa
Senior Vice President Economic Development
Dallas Regional Chamber

Mike is Senior Vice President of the Dallas Regional Chamber’s economic development program, a position he has held for 17 years.

Mike leads the economic development staff and critical partnering with regional communities and allies, the State of Texas, the Chamber’s members, and of course companies and corporate location advisors.

In his current role, Mike and his team have supported numerous corporate moves to the Dallas region, including 10 Fortune 500 headquarters relocations and other significant headquarters, office, and industrial projects.

Prior to joining the Dallas Regional Chamber, for 2 years Mike was a Senior Vice President with the Buxton Company, a Fort Worth-based consulting firm that selects locations for prominent retailers and helps cities recruit retail.

For 14 years, Mike was with the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, beginning as director of research and becoming Senior Vice President of Economic Development.

Mike holds a Master of Science degree in economic development from the University of Southern Mississippi and a Bachelor of Science degree in regional planning, also from Southern Miss.

In 2015, he served as chairman of the Texas Economic Development Council (TEDC), the 800-member statewide organization for economic developers. He also provides leadership to the DFW Marketing Team, the association of economic development professionals representing Dallas-Fort Worth area cities.

Mike is currently one of 9 appointees to the State of Texas incentives oversight committee that serves the Texas legislature.

           

Markus Veith
Grant Thornton Advisors LLC

Markus leads Grant Thornton’s Digital Asset Practice and is the Partner-in-charge of the Northeast Financial Institutions Practice and an SEC and IFRS specialist. Markus has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry and in public accounting.

Markus has led client services for a variety of multinational digital asset companies such as cryptocurrency exchanges, trading desks, digital asset custodians, wallet companies and payment processors for over 8 years. He leads audit and advisory engagements for a number of digital asset clients of the firm. As Digital Assets Practice Leader Markus has authored and developed our firm’s audit methodology and helped build our Blockchain technology center of excellence. Additionally, he leads audits of both public and private financial services organizations ranging from large multinational financial institutions to broker dealers and fintechs. He also leads internal audit and other risk management engagements as well as consulting projects on loan reviews, operational process reviews, post-merger integration, due diligence and asset securitization. Other areas of expertise include capital raises and IPOs. He also works and assists other offices with IFRS audits, reviews and conversions.

He works with a variety of digital asset companies, securities and commodities broker dealers, banks, REITs, BDCs, private equity groups, finance and investment companies. His clients include companies with multistate and multinational operations.

Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Markus worked for Deloitte and RSM. He began his career in Europe with an affiliate of DZ BANK AG – one of Europe’s leading financial organizations.

 

           

Michael Stockham, JD, CFE, CCEP

Michael Stockham routinely leads complex internal investigations on behalf of companies, board committees and individual directors, and he defends companies/directors in shareholder and securities class actions. In particular, his practice involves 1) investigations, trials and litigation arising out of financial restatements, accounting fraud and disputes over the adequacy of corporate disclosures, as well as 2) shareholder class actions and fiduciary duty disputes related to stock price drops, merger litigation and proxy fights. Mr. Stockham regularly serves as trial counsel in cases before federal and state courts around the country, and he regularly represents clients in arbitration proceedings. He is also a trusted business counselor and often provides pre-transaction and pre-litigation advice related to corporate governance and business issues for privately held and publicly traded companies. Texas Super Lawyers magazine recently named him one of the "Top 100 Overall" in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

           

Honorable Melissa (Davis) Andrews

Melissa Andrews is a judge on the Texas Business Court, where she serves in the Third Division in Austin, Texas.

Judge Andrews is Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Before coming to the bench, she focused her legal practice on appellate briefing and oral argument, strategic dispositive motions, expert challenges, preservation of error, and jury charges. She has represented clients in the United States Supreme Court, the Supreme Court of Texas, several United States Courts of Appeals, and trial and appellate courts across the county. She also previously worked at the Supreme Court of Texas as an attorney for Justice Jeff Boyd and a law clerk for Justice Don Willett (now serving on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals), as well as at the First Court of Appeals as an attorney for Justice Harvey Brown.

She is currently the immediate past Chair of the Austin Bar Association’s Civil Appellate Section. She also serves on the Texas Board of Legal Specialization’s Advisory Commissions for Civil Appellate Law as well as for Judicial Administration. She is a frequent CLE presenter and has authored several law review articles.

She received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Texas School of Law, where she was a member of the Texas Law Review, served as a Teaching Quizmaster, and graduated with honors. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University, where she graduated magna cum laude

Norm Bagwell
Chairman of the Board

Norm Bagwell is the Chairman of Bank of Texas. For the past 15 years, he served as CEO of Bank of Texas and EVP of BOK Financial. During his tenure, he was responsible for all Regional Banking, Commercial Banking, and Treasury Management across the eightstate footprint. He received his B.A. and B.B.A. degrees from Southern Methodist University where he is a distinguished alumnus from the Cox School of Business. From 1998 to 2007, Bagwell served as the Dallas President of JPMorgan Chase and its predecessor, Bank One Dallas. In this role, he served as the senior executive in the market and was responsible for commercial banking activities in the Dallas region. Bagwell currently serves as Chairman of the Baylor Scott & White Dallas Foundation. Norm serves on the board of directors for SMU Cox School of Business, State Fair of Texas, Junior League of Dallas, and Panola Company LTD. He is a member of the Salesmanship Club, Maverick Chapter YPO, Dallas Assembly and Dallas Citizens Council. He is past chairman of the Dallas Regional Chamber of Commerce and a past trustee of the Salesmanship Club Foundation. Bagwell was awarded the Chairman’s Leadership Award from the Dallas Regional Chamber of Commerce in 2001. In 2005, he received the Distinguished Alumni award from the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University, as well as the Torch of Conscience award from the American Jewish Congress. In 2013, Bagwell and his wife, Robin, received the Margaret Sharpe Award for Community Service. Bagwell received the Chandler Dykes Leadership Award from Texas Woman's University in 2018, and has been recognized as one of the region's most influential business leaders by DCEO Dallas 500 for each of the past seven years. Bank of Texas is a division of BOK Financial Corporation, a $47 billion bank holding company operating in eight southwestern states.
