Jodi Hubler

Jodi Hubler is a board director, investor and executive best known for accelerating company growth and building enviable shareholder value. Throughout her career she has pioneered innovation and disruptive strategies that have differentiated and transformed businesses, markets and performance at all levels in global Fortune 100, private, and start-up companies across multi-industry domains. She serves on the Board of Directors of privately held Central Logic, Marani Health and Omcare. In addition, her board service includes Caring Bridge (Chair), Medical Alley Association (Vice Chair), the State of Minnesota’s LaunchMN Advisory Board (Inaugural Chair) and a recent appointment to Minnesota Governor Walz’s Council on Economic Expansion. Hubler has served as a board director or chair of more than a dozen venture and private equity backed health care companies, particularly as the CEO and Managing Director of Lemhi Ventures a $385M health care service venture capital firm. This work has included more than 50 financing rounds ranging from de novo startups to late-stage investment, resulting in job creation in the thousands and total value creation in the multiple billions. Her companies have redefined healthcare and payment models and have been acquired by some of the largest leaders in the sector. She has held executive positions in both public and private companies, including Cargill, Alcoa, Definity Health, Lemhi Ventures and Bind Benefits. She is especially adept at leading and governing in industries facing transformative change, drawing on her experience across global organizations and multi-industry domains. Hubler is a frequent speaker and panelist at health care industry events as well as events focused on empowering woman leaders and entrepreneurs. Her unique experiences, thought leadership and track record have earned her many accolades, including being named to the 500 Most Powerful Minnesota Business Leaders, a Women in Business honoree and a TCB Top 100 to Know in 2021.

Prior to returning to the University of Minnesota to teach and lead the development of the entrepreneurship center, John's professional background was in management consulting and private equity in the communications industry. As founding principal in $100 million equity fund, sourced investments and took leadership positions in startups that became industry leaders in online advertising and bundled communications services, while leading a roll-up of engineering services providers.

 

Jeff Espersen
General Manager and Chief Merchant
Zappos.com

Jeff Espersen is the General Manager and Chief Merchant at Zappos.com and 6pm.com, where he oversees over $3bn in annual gross sales. He is responsible for all of the e-tailer’s major functions related to merchandising, including brand acquisition, selection and assortment, supplier relationships, inventory management, pricing and overall merchandising profitability. As a result of his leadership, Zappos’ sales have grown at double-digits. Espersen has transformed the Zappos’ merchandising operations to align with the needs and tastes of Zappos customers: restructuring the company’s merchandise mix and portfolio, increasing pricing effectiveness and streamlining buying processes. To accomplish this, he has put in place a merchandising organization and decision-making to recognize new trends and center on both customer and marquee supplier relationships. At the same time, he has revamped 6PM’s customer experience, merchandise mix and marketing. To attract the next generation of customers he has pursued a number of initiatives including brand partnerships with major personalities (Rihanna, NFL player Ronnie Stanley, and RocNation), exclusive merchandise and a new luxury experience. He has also built verticals in running and kids. Finally, he enriched Zappos’ customer experience around fashion and apparel. Prior to joining Zappos in 2013, Jeff was Vice President and General Merchandising Manager at DSW, Inc. where he built the DSW Men’s Shoe Brand by creating a world class assortment. He began his career at Nordstrom where he was a Divisional Merchandising Manager. A graduate of Seattle Pacific University, Jeff and his family live in Las Vegas.
