Exit and Succession Planning: Boardroom Perspectives

Overview

Exit and succession planning is an integral part of ongoing business strategy for private companies. This session explores common boardroom challenges and governance considerations that can arise during exit planning, including differing shareholder priorities, balancing active and non-active directors, and timing considerations. The discussion also highlights considerations boards may review to support business value and align with ownership objectives.

Key Learning Objectives:

Attendees will gain insights into how boards can engage with ownership to understand succession goals and support enterprise value, navigate common boardroom challenges, and address strategic considerations such as enhancing business value and managing risks associated with the 5D’s (death, disability, divorce, disagreement, and distress). The session will also provide practical guidance on timing and decision-making in exit and succession planning.
