Overview

A high functioning board of directors with independent directors is a valuable asset for the company, the company’s leadership, and the company’s owners. Creating a high functioning board and the operations of a high value board are the topics of this program.

Marisol Angelini

Marisol is currently an Independent Board Director for Bush Brothers, a 5th-generation private company leading branded beans in the USA, where she is a member of the Nominating/Governance Committee. She also serves on the board of the National Association of Corporate Directors, Atlanta Chapter (NACD), where she chairs Member engagement. Marisol belongs to the Endeavor Global Inc. and the Executive Coaching Connections networks, advising CEOs/C-Suite leaders of a broad variety of companies across many industries “scaling-up” their businesses, and serving as an Advisory Board Member on some of those.

In 2018, Marisol retired from a 22-year career at the Coca-Cola Company, where she held executive marketing and general management roles in different geographies across the world.

Earlier professional experience includes Procter & Gamble and Macy’s.

Marisol holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Georgia State University and an M.B.A. from Mercer University in Georgia. 

 

Richard (Dick) Palmersheim
President & CEO, Perlick Corporation

Richard (Dick) Palmersheim is president & CEO and a board member at Perlick Corporation, a family-owned manufacturer of commercial refrigeration, bar equipment, beverage dispensing products, and luxury market residential refrigeration. . He previously served on the board for family owned First Supply, LLC, private equity owned Thermacell Repellents, Inc., and on advisory boards for 3 family office and family-owned companies.  Dick spent most of his career at family-owned, consumer products company S. C., Johnson, where he was Group Managing Director - Australia/New Zealand, Global General Manager - Home Cleaning, and had other international and domestic business development, new product and marketing roles.  He has experience in various business unit leadership, marketing, new product development, international and strategic planning roles for Caterpillar, BRP, Broan-NuTone, and ASQ.  Dick has a bachelor’s degree (marketing, finance), and a M.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin - Madison.

 

Joe Hurd

Joe is an Operating Partner with SOSV, LLC, a $1b early-stage venture fund. In this role, Joe advises a number of the fund’s portfolio companies on commercialization and go-to-market strategy.  He also sits on the boards of Trustpilot Group plc, a publicly traded company on the London Stock Exchange, and SilverBox Engaged Merger Corp I, a NASDAQ-listed special purpose acquisition company.  Prior to SOSV, Joe held senior management roles at Facebook, Gannett and the Obama Administration as a political appointee.  Based in Silicon Valley, Joe is a Trustee of Menlo College and the Computer History Museum; and he is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the Trilateral Commission, and NACD.


 

Lori Marcus
Founder, Courtyard Connections

Ms. Marcus serves as an independent board director for several companies:  Fresh Del Monte Produce, Inc. (NYSE:  FDP), 24 Hour Fitness, and Golub Corporation (d.b.a Price Chopper/Market 32 grocery stores).  Until recently she also served on the boards of Phunware (NASDAQ:  PHUN), DDC (DNA Diagnostics Center), and Talalay Global.  She is also a board member for SHARE Cancer Support and Vice Chair of the Board for the MMRF (Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation). 

She comes to board work after a long career as a c-suite operating executive in leading consumer companies -- PepsiCo, The Children’s Place Retail Stores, Keurig Green Mountain, and Peloton Interactive. 

Ms. Marcus earned her BS degree in Marketing from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania.

Rick Williams

Rick Williams is Managing Director of Williams Advisory Partners, LLC. He has a breadth of experience as a company founder, board of director’s member, and management consultant.  He has been board chair of a medical device company and a bank/VC firm. His board service is usually with technology companies in the B to B space including medical technology, software, and financial services.

Rick is a nationally and internationally published thought leader with a CEO and board point of view. Rick’s soon to be published book entitled “Create the Future – for your company and yourself” is a “how to field guide” for leaders who want to think creatively about where to take their organization without a big consulting firm budget. He is a frequent speaker and program moderator.

Rick founded The Equity Company, Inc., an award winning real estate investment and development company. He is past President of the Harvard Business School Association of Boston. He was a management consultant with the global consulting firm Arthur D. Little, Inc. Rick is a physics graduate of the University of Pennsylvania.
