Betsy Goltermann
Senior Executive
KI Industries, Inc.

 

Betsy Goltermann is a senior executive whose background includes the positions of CFO, CPA, and Board Member for a family founded manufacturing enterprise, KI Industries, Inc.  She has early career experience in public accounting and econometric consulting.  She operated alongside other family members to grow KI to over $100M with international operations. 

KI provides injection molded and diecast components to original equipment manufacturers in the appliance, automotive and solar industries.   During Betsy’s tenure in the company,  KI grew by both acquisition and organically.

The company is 100% ESOP owned.  Originally a family business, the company transitioned to ESOP ownership in 2012.  In 2014, it was named ESOP Company of the Year by the Illinois ESOP Association in and continues to be proud of the contribution of its employees and the strength of its culture.

Betsy chairs the audit committee and serves as a member on the compensation committee.  The board is actively involved in overseeing the Company’s strategy, supporting management,  and sustaining the ESOP.

      


John C. Schumacher, CFA

John C. Schumacher is the Founder and President of True Financial POV, LLC. Since 2004, Mr. Schumacher has provided financial opinions, and related financial advisory and consulting services to companies, attorneys on behalf of their clients, financial sponsors, individual investors and trustees. He has led valuations of businesses, intellectual property, derivatives, earnouts and complex securities for various purposes including family law, financial reporting, employee stock ownership plans, shareholder transactions and disputes, gift & estate taxation and corporate planning.

Mr. Schumacher’s entire career in professional services has encompassed working with clients and subject companies in a wide range of industries, including agriculture, asset management & financial services, digital media, distribution, engineering & construction, fin tech, food & beverage, healthcare providers, healthcare services, heavy truck & automotive, life sciences, manufacturing, marketing services, medical technology, oil & gas exploration and production, oil field services, pharma & biotech, power generation, professional services, technology, telecom and utilities.

Mr. Schumacher is a Chartered Financial Analyst, conferred by the CFA Institute. Mr. Schumacher started his career in public accounting, as a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and later as a management consultant. Mr. Schumacher earned an undergraduate degree from Drake University, and later earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from what is now known as the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.

      


David B. Solomon

David is is a partner in the firm’s Corporate Group and a member of the firm's Executive Committee. David has extensive experience in structuring and consummating mergers and acquisition transactions and in representing banks, mezzanine lenders and private equity firms when they make investments in companies.

David adds value as a transactional lawyer through organization and collaboration with other members of a deal team to get the deal done efficiently. Instead of simply raising legal issues without considering a client's business objectives, he focuses on being a problem-solver by proposing creative solutions to issues that allow deals to move forward. He also regularly spends time reviewing market data and networking with other service providers, critical to be able to help his clients assess whether they are getting a good deal.

David also represents many middle-market companies in a "general counsel" capacity by handling various business law issues. He spends time developing personal relationships with each of his clients, knowing the insight gained from those conversations is crucial to serving as a better advisor to the company. As a result, David's clients can rely on his advice and judgment because he has taken the time to meet with the owners and executives of the company to understand their business.

Upon joining Levenfeld Pearlstein in 2009, David founded and currently serves as the head of the firm's Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) practice, which serves clients who are involved in various types of transactions involving ESOPs. In addition to working on ESOP transactions and advising ESOP companies, he lectures frequently on ESOPs and has published articles in various publications about how ESOPs are an effective business succession strategy. David is also a member of the board of directors of two ESOP- owned companies and was a former member of the board of directors of the National Center For Employee Ownership (NCEO) and formerly served as the Executive Vice President of the Illinois Chapter of the ESOP Association.

Pat leads the Wintrust national ESOP lending practice, providing competitive financing solutions to ESOP-owned companies. Pat has 30 years of commercial banking experience and a proven track record of developing and building relationships, financial analysis, risk management and the development of his staff. Throughout his career, Pat has been responsible for leading a team of bankers tasked with generating Middle Market opportunities in the Chicagoland area, and new and mature ESOP opportunities across the country. He is a member of the Illinois and National ESOP Association and the National Center for Employee Ownership (NCEO).

Pat holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Ball State University and a M.B.A. from Loyola University Chicago.
