Kaley Karaffa
Head of Board Advisory, Americas
Nasdaq

Kaley is the Head of Board Advisory in the Americas at Nasdaq. She advises boards on corporate governance matters, including board effectiveness, composition and culture, CEO performance, strategy, ESG, and compliance and risk matters. Kaley works with public, private, and nonprofit corporations in a wide range of industries globally. Prior to Nasdaq’s acquisition of the Center for Board Excellence (CBE) in 2019, Kaley was Vice President of Client Services and Business Development & Legal at CBE. Kaley also previously served as General Counsel of Clarolux. Before beginning an in-house practice, she practiced law in New York City with a focus on real estate, banking law, and litigation. Kaley served as Program Director of Jefferson County Teen Court prior to attending law school.

Kaley serves on the Board of Directors of Horizon Education, as Board Chair of the Northside Charter High School in Brooklyn, NY, on the patient advisory board for a privately held pharmaceutical company, and on the Fred Hutchison Cancer Center Patient Safety Committee and Patient & Family Advisory Council. She served as Co-Chair of the CLE Committee of the North Carolina Bar Association Corporate Counsel Section from 2015 through 2017. Kaley also founded and served on the Board of Directors of YP Civitan of Greensboro from 2013 through 2016.

Kaley volunteers with many leading civic and philanthropic organizations. She speaks publicly on corporate governance topics with many leading governance and business organizations, including Corporate Board Member, Competent Boards, Society for Corporate Governance, TechGC, Equilar, and Wall Street Journal, among others. Kaley received a Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude in Political Science from Samford University and a Juris Doctor from Pace University School of Law. She is admitted to practice law in the State of New York.

      

Tamar Elkeles, Ph.D

Tamar is an experienced Chief Learning & Talent Officer, Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and thought leader in the talent, learning, human resources and organization development field. Throughout her nearly 30 year career she has had unique experiences with entrepreneurs and executives in start-ups as well as large enterprises. She has expertise managing global growth, scaling businesses and leading international teams, as well as an extensive background implementing best in class practices within technology companies.

Tamar was most recently the Chief Human Resources Officer for XCOM Labs, a wireless technology company propelling the next mobile technology revolution. Previously, she was Chief Talent Executive at Atlantic Bridge Capital, a global venture capital fund focused on technology investments. Prior to this role, Tamar was the Chief People Officer for Quixey, a Silicon Valley tech start-up and before that spent 25 years as the Chief Learning and Talent Officer at Qualcomm.

In her roles as CHRO, Tamar led all Human Resources globally, including talent acquisition, talent development, compensation, health & wellness, HR technology, organization design, M&A integration, DEI, employee communications and strategic HR operations. In her long tenure as Chief Learning and Talent Officer she helped grow Qualcomm into one of the most successful companies in the world. There she led the development of Qualcomm’s workforce, scaling the employee base from 700 to over 31,000 employees worldwide. Her scope of leadership included talent strategy, global learning, executive/ leadership development, technical development, employee communications, change management, organization development, acquisition integration, organizational transformation, talent management, culture & engagement, emerging technologies and mobile learning for Qualcomm’s global workforce. The Qualcomm Learning Center operated as a unique internal consulting function to the business, which provided innovative human capital solutions that enabled business growth and strong financial results.

Under Tamar’s leadership, Qualcomm’s Learning Center consistently ranked in Training Magazine’s list of Top Training Organizations. In 2002, they were "best in class" in telecommunications. In both 2000 and 1994, they were awarded the Organization of the Year Award from The Association for Talent Development (ATD) for exceptional employee development programs. During Tamar’s nearly 25 year tenure at Qualcomm, The Qualcomm Learning Center earned several awards from ATD and was regularly named to the Chief Learning Officer (CLO) Magazine “Learning Elite”. In 2015, the Qualcomm Learning Center was named “Learning & Development Organization of the Year” by CLO Magazine.

Tamar has been featured in several publications including CLO Magazine, Training Magazine, HR Executive Magazine and T&D Magazine for her outstanding leadership and innovative contributions. Throughout her career she has earned numerous awards, including the “Learning Elite Trailblazer” Award (2014), the prestigious “San Diego Women Who Mean Business” Award (1998) and the “Tribute to Women in Industry” Award (2004). In 2010 she was named “CLO of the Year” by CLO Magazine and in 2014 was named “Top Influential” by the San Diego Daily Transcript for her significant impact and leadership in the technology industry.

In addition to her executive leadership positions, Tamar is also an accomplished author. She authored the first book on the CLO’s role: “The Chief Learning Officer” (2011) and in 2013, co-authored the book “Measuring the Success of Learning Through Technology”. Her book, “The Chief Talent Officer”, was released in 2017 and her most recent book "Forward Focused Learning" was released in December 2020.

Tamar is currently on the Board of Directors of OpenSesame, G3VRM Acquisition Corp (NASDAQ: GGGV) and served on the Board of Directors of GP Strategies Corporation (NYSE: GPX) until it's sale in 2021 to Learning Technologies Group (LON: LTG). She has public company board experience with Governance, Compensation and Cybersecurity Committees. Tamar also serves on the Forbes School of Business & Technology Board at the University of Arizona, The CLO Magazine Editorial Board and the ATD Chief Talent Development Officer (CTDO Next) Board. She was a member of The Conference Board’s Executive Council on Talent and Organizational Development and also served on the Board of Directors for ATD, the world's premier professional association and leading resource on workplace learning and performance. Tamar holds both an M.S. and Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology.

Jerusha Stewart is the CEO of TAKE YOUR SEAT (www.takeyourseat.co), the online community she co-founded in 2020 with David Baldwin and former CEO of Burt’s Bees and Seventh Generation, John Replogle, to increase the number of Black directors on boards. The company’s mission is to accelerate boardroom inclusivity and corporate performance through pioneering educational programming and a robust online community of board leaders, candidates and allies. 

Since the company’s founding, Jerusha has partnered with dozens of public and private companies, including PNC Bank, Fiserv, AEA Investors, BCG, The B Lab US/Canada and B Corps leaders from Beautycounter, Bombas, Murphy’s Naturals, Seventh Generation and Vital Plan. 

She is a sought after keynote speaker and expert source for national media outlets and has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, NPR’s Marketplace, Bloomberg, and Cheddar Media, among others. A member of the The Nasdaq Center for Board Excellence – Insights Council, she is passionate about solving inequities through mission-focused entrepreneurial initiatives. A graduate of Stanford Law School, Jerusha lives in Vero Beach, FL.

Alyssa Gelbard is the Founder and CEO of Point Road Group, a unique branding firm that helps companies make better brand impressions through their people. A woman-owned and led company, Point Road Group advises diverse companies, executives and board directors. 

Alyssa is passionate about strategically improving brand impressions to drive business. She is an expert and frequent speaker on personal branding, LinkedIn and communications. Her unique perspective on branding stems from a background in marketing and communications, where she held leadership roles in the biomedical research, technology and sports & entertainment industries. 

An experienced Board Director, Alyssa serves on the Advisory Boards of Peterra Kitchen and the Graduate Sports Management Program at Endicott College. She sits on the Board of Directors of the Financial Executives International (NY Chapter) and is Career Management Chair, and serves on the Executive Committee of the NY Chapter of the Private Directors Association and is Membership Chair. She is an elected member of the Tufts University Alumni Council and co-chairs the Tufts Women's Network in New York. 

Alyssa has an MBA in Marketing from NYU Stern School of Business, a BA in Sociology from Tufts University and a Certificate in Private Company Governance from the Private Directors Association.
