Lihong Yu |
PHT International was established in 1993, but its story, its inception goes b ack further. Founder and President, Lihong Yu was born in Ningbo, China and raised through the Chinese Cultural Revolution in the late 1960s. Lihong’s parents were exiled to the countryside during the decade-long revolution w hen she was six years old. She remained in the care of her grandparents. It was during this time period that the most defining moments of her life cam e to be.
During the time with her grandparents, Lihong took on the re sponsibility of managing a house budget in order to keep a family of four f ed. She sought, she purchased and she negotiated. Her drive was, indeed, a key factor to her family’s survival and success. Eventually, she was reunit ed with her parents and went on to Beijing Foreign Studies University.
< p>It was in the early 1990’s that Lihong fel t the east coast of the US was missing the economic benefits of working wit h the far east. With intention, drive and $5,000, she set out to establish PHT International, Inc., in Charlotte, North Carolina. PHT was one of the o riginal pioneers to bridge the east/west gap by delivering cost effective, high quality chemical products directly to western companies. PHT focused o n identifying high quality producers, inspecting cargo to ensure product an d package integrity and delivering the products to the companies’ doors. A reputation for quality and reliability was built and continues to this day in its manufacturing endeavors. In every aspect of the PHT org anization, the legacy and drive of Lihong’s upbringing resonates. She built the company as she did with her experience during her childhood, layer by layer, experience on experience, and success upon success. Every challenge is met with the willingness to challenge it back to deliver solutions based on… People. Honesty. Trust.
