Cheryl Ainoa
EVP & CTO

Sam’s Club of Walmart

 

 Cheryl Ainoa serves as executive vice president and chief technology officer for Sam’s Club. In this role, Cheryl heads a team of skilled technologists that are focused on delivering seamless and advanced technology solutions that power the overall experience for Sam’s Club members and associates. 

Cheryl joined Walmart in 2020 and most recently served as executive vice president, New Business and Emerging Tech – a team that focused on focused on powering the future of Walmart by accelerating early-stage strategic businesses and revolutionizing retail experiences through emerging technology. In this position, Cheryl and her team launched Walmart Business and Walmart Luminate, while achieving strategic growth for Walmart Connect and Walmart’s Health & Wellness business. They also introduced multiple AR shopping experiences, expanded the use of Walmart's Conversational AI platform globally, and launched various social commerce and MarTech initiatives. Additionally, Cheryl led a cross-functional team that rapidly scaled GenAI implementation across Walmart, while moving with speed to develop GenAI tools, such as Walmart’s Generative AI Playground.

 Prior to Walmart, Cheryl served as chief operating officer of D2L, a software-as-a-service organization that works with schools and businesses to help transform the way the world learns. There, she was responsible for product management, development, delivery and support functions for the company’s industry leading Brightspace cloud-based learning management system.

Cheryl also served as senior vice president of Product Development at Intuit, where she led Intuit’s transformation from CD-ROMs to a mobile-first, cloud-based SaaS company. Before joining Intuit, Cheryl led Product Development for Yahoo!’s award-winning and category-leading Media properties, including Yahoo! Finance, Yahoo! Sports, Yahoo! News. She also spent 15 years in technical leadership positions at companies including Broderbund Software, Genealogy.com, Healtheon/WebMD, Informix Software and Impac Medical Systems.

Cheryl is a recipient of the YMCA Tribute to Women and Industry (TWIN) Award, which recognizes women who have excelled in their fields and made significant contributions to industry in executive, managerial and professional roles. Cheryl was also a recipient of the 2013 Intuit CEO Leadership Award.

Cheryl holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Washington State University and a Master  of Business Administration from Santa Clara University’s Leavey School of Business.

       

Phillip Lyle
VP of IT

Chapman University

 

As the Associate Vice President for Information Technology at Chapman University, Phillip Lyle leads the customer service, infrastructure, and research computing teams that support the academic and administrative needs of the campus, delivering services to almost 10,000 students and 3,000 faculty and staff. He has been at Chapman for 9 years and has over 27 years of IT experience in various industries, including education, finance, and technology (dotcom).   Phillip has also previously been a part-time faculty member who has taught IT courses at several schools in Orange County. He is currently a key member of the University's AI Task Force, and leads several key AI initiatives.   Phillip holds an MBA from Concordia University, a bachelor’s degree in information technology from the University of Phoenix, and several certifications in systems, networking, and security.

Peter Moore
Business & IT Strategy Advisor

 

Peter D. Moore is a business and digital technology strategy advisor specializing in helping companies manage for exponential revenue, margin and net income growth. Over the past fifteen years, Mr. Moore has worked with CEO’s, COO’s and other C-Suite executives from Citigroup, Charles Schwab, Johnson & Johnson, Mead Westvaco, Microsoft, Tommy Hilfiger, SAP, SAS Institute and U.S. Trust.

Over the past five years I have collaborated with my brother, Geoffrey Moore, to develop new models and tools to enable companies to effectively compete in the new age of digital disruption. We have introduced a new 4 Zone Model to help C-Suite executives and their senior leadership teams maximize the business value of digital technology within their organizations. Client engagements include Adobe, Amgen, Box, Clorox, FedEx,  ICANN, Intuit, Molina Healthcare, SpaceX, Splunk, UBER and VMware.

Mr. Moore also conducts workshops with early-stage companies that deploy and leverage the Crossing the Chasm framework, vocabulary and toolset to scale their companies to material revenues and profits.

Before establishing his own consulting practice, Mr. Moore spent 12 years as a managing partner at Inferential Focus, a market intelligence firm that specializes in detecting major economic, social, technological and geo-political changes both in the U.S. and abroad. He started and managed the firms practice with major corporations that included clients such as AIG, Citibank, Cigna, Ford, GE Capital, Leo Burnett, Microsoft, Pfizer, Philip Morris and Rothschild NA. 

Prior to joining Inferential Focus in March of 1989, Mr. Moore spent seven years at the New York Stock Exchange where he was Senior Vice President of Corporate Relations. In that position, he was responsible for the Exchange’s board and board committee meetings, strategic planning, corporate marketing, media relations and government relations as well as its economic research and marketing research divisions.

While at Inferential Focus, Mr. Moore co-authored a book with his former partner, Ken Hey, entitled The Caterpillar Doesn’t Know – How Personal Change is Creating Organizational Change, which was published July 15, 1998.
