Dr. Sri Zaheer
Chair, Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis
University of Minnesota

Srilata (Sri) Zaheer led the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management as Dean from June 2011 to July  2023,when she returned to her faculty position as the Elmer L. Andersen Chair in Global Corporate Social Responsibility. Dr. Zaheer has served as a director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis since 2017, and as Chair of the Board since January 2020. For her service on the board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, she was named an Outstanding Director by Twin Cities Business. She also serves on the board of H.B. Fuller, a Fortune 1000 firm listed on the NYSE, and on its audit and compensation committees.

As dean of a top-tier business school, Dr. Zaheer led overall strategy, programs, research and operations for 5,000 students, 400 faculty and staff and a budget of ~$140 million. She led a strategic diversification into new programs in business analytics, supply chain management, finance, and marketing, creating new pipelines of talent for firms. She also created a Global DBA program in partnership with Tsinghua University in Beijing, which attracts top executives in China, and a Medical Industry focused MBA in Shanghai. She launched a Military Veterans Initiative to help servicemen and women transition from military to business careers, with the Carlson School being named the #1 Military Friendly business school in the US. In 2012, Wall Street Journal named Sri Zaheer a “Shining Star” among business school deans.

Dr. Zaheer’s research focus is on technology and international strategy. In 2018, she received the PwC ‘Eminent Scholar’ Award for lifetime thought leadership from the Academy of Management. Prior to academia, Zaheer worked in senior management roles for multinationals, including as the Internal Auditor for Sandoz India (Swiss Pharma/Agro MNC), with the Financial Controller of Mackinnon Mackenzie (Shipping) leading its Indian IPO, and as Systems Analyst at Tata Consultancy Services (Software). She was also the Nigerian correspondent for Business International, reporting on the economy and business. These experiences provided the foundation for her passion for international business, and for her consulting
work on global strategy.

Dr. Zaheer serves as a Life Trustee of Hamilton College and has served on several non-profit boards, including the Greater Twin Cities United Way, the Guthrie Theater and Mayo Clinic’s Economic Development Agency. In 2021, the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal honored her professional achievements, leadership qualities, and contributions to the broader Twin Cities community with their 2021 Women in Business Career Achievement Award.

Dr. Zaheer received her PhD from MIT’s Sloan School of Management in 1992. She has a Corporate Director’s Certificate from Harvard Business School, an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad, and a BS in Physics from Madras University. She has lived/worked in India, China, Nigeria, France, Italy, Poland and Brazil, and loves to dabble in languages.

Dr. Sheila Riggs
Chair, Primary Dental Care
University of Minnesota, School of Dentistry

Dr. Sheila Riggs chairs the Department of Primary Dental Care at the University of Minnesota’s School of Dentistry. Her career journey includes helming Delta Dental of Minnesota as CEO after serving on the organization’s board for six years; executive roles at Wellmark Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Iowa and South Dakota and its Foundation. Sheila focuses on demystifying change management while leading others to execute on evolutionary strategies—often resulting in first-to-market and first-in-nation results.

Dr. Riggs currently serves on the Board of Directors of Benco Dental, Inc., a privately held $1B revenue dental distribution business in Scranton, PA, and the Cargill Foundation. Committed to the community, she has also served on the boards of the Hennepin Health System (dba HCMC), Delta Dental Plans Association, Wellmark Foundation, Women’s Health Leadership Trust, YWCA of Minneapolis, the MN Hospital Association, the Greater Twin Cities United Way and IPERS (The State of Iowa Pension Board).

Dr. Riggs completed her D.D.S. at the University of Iowa and M.S. and Doctorate of Medical Sciences in Epidemiology at Harvard University. She has completed several board development certificates at The Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania.
